I could not imagine being one of the wise man and following a star to find the baby, King of the Jews and coming to the feet of King Herod and asking him about the baby.. To see the reaction on his face, the anger in his eyes. the frustration that over took his body and the jealousy that filled his heart. I am glad to see they did not fulfill his wish of bring the news back to him.
I wonder how Mary and Joseph felt when they were told to flee to Egypt because Herod was killing all male babies under the age of two. Later to hear that his son took over the throne and he still wanted Jesus died. Moving once more to the city of Nazareth. This city was know for evil and wrong doing, I wonder if they worried about his reputation with being know as a Nazarene. "A Nazarene was to be called a despicable man, a man from whom no good was to expected, and to whom no respect was to be paid. To him and his followers. they believe Let no name reproach for religion's sake seem hard to us, when our Master was himself called a Nazarene" (Matthew Henry 1209). I think they knew God would take care of everything and He had a great plan for this child.
My last thought, was for the parents that lost there son's under the age of two. Where they upset with the King of the Jews fro the killing of their babies.... They shed their blood for him, who afterwards shed his blood for them.
We should shed our blood each day for the life Jesus has given us.. What will you shed today?
time to read his word, time to read this blog, time to exercise, or even spend time with our children. Jesus should be given our first in everything.
Blessings
